"The first deer was actually developed some time ago, but I did not want to
release it publicly because I felt that there were broad similarities
between it and the sitting deer in Viva Origami. I took another look at
it recently and felt that it wasn't too bad after all, with minor
modifications, since mine is on all fours and the folding procedure for
the antlers is entirely different. The design was also such that it
allowed me to vary the conformation of the antlers to fit those of other
deer species, e.g. as in the second deer. I see a possible moose in there, but
have not gotten to work on that yet."
Greyhound
 |
"The greyhound was specially designed for two wonderful people, Donna
Walcavage (USA) and Chan Ka-Leung (Hong Kong), two origami and greyhound
enthusiasts. I folded a whippet for Donna some years ago, which I was
not entirely satisfied with as it had a open edges along its back. I
took an entirely different approach for the greyhound, mainly to capture
its sleek look and avoid open edges. This dog is too fat!"
Pooping dog
 |
"Doggy poo is simply an act of mischief, having been inspired by a recent
model-of-the-month on the CDO page. (My apologies if some of you find it
'in bad taste'). It's a one-piece model, with a colour change for the
poo, which unfortunately is not apparent in the photo as well."
Giraffe
 |
"The giraffe was one of a group of ten models featured by the Nippon
Origami Association in Issue 222 (Feb 1994) of their magazine. Not only
did they honour me with a two page spread, they actually wanted to pay
me for it! I opted for a magazine subscription instead. Photo: Courtesy
of Nippon Origami Association."
